NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BY THE BOARD OF
SCHOOL TRUSTEES OF THE CLAY COMMUNITY SCHOOLS,
CLAY/PARKE COUNTIES, INDIANAThe citizens of the Clay Community Schools, Clay/Parke Counties, Indiana (the “School Corporation”), are hereby notified that the Board of School Trustees of the School Corporation (the “Board”) proposes to (1) undertake facility improvement, upgrading and long-term maintenance projects at one or more of the existing facilities operated by the School Corporation, including, but not limited to, all or any portion of (a) the renovation, repair and/or update to all or any portion of the heating and air conditioning system at all or any of the existing facilities operated by the School Corporation, including, but not limited to, all or any of the existing Clay City High School, North Clay Middle School, Clay City Elementary School, Forest Park Elementary School and Van Buren Elementary School, (b) the restoration, replacement and/or repair of all or any portion of the roofing system at all or any portion of all or any of the existing facilities operated by the School Corporation, including, but not limited to, the existing Jackson Township Elementary School, (c) the repair and/or replacement of all or any portion of the floor covering or flooring at all or any portion of all or any of the existing facilities operated by the School Corporation, including, but not limited to, the existing Northview High School, and (d) the restoration and/or repair and update of all or any portion of the parking lots and driving lanes on all or any portion of the sites on which any of the existing facilities operated by the School Corporation are located, (2) acquire and/or install technology equipment for use by the School Corporation in one or more of the existing facilities operated by the School Corporation or in connection with its operations, (3) acquire and/or install kitchen equipment in one or more of the existing facilities operated by the School Corporation, (4) undertake miscellaneous facility improvement and/or equipping projects at one or more of the facilities operated by the School Corporation or in connection with the operations of the School Corporation, and (5) undertake any projects related to any of the projects listed in clauses (1) through and including (4) (clauses (1) through and including (5), collectively, the “2025-2026 District Wide Facility Improvement and Equipping Project”).
Furthermore, the citizens of the School Corporation are hereby notified that the Board proposes to issue general obligation bonds of the School Corporation in one or more series or issues, to be designated as the “Clay Community Schools, Clay/Parke Counties, Indiana, General Obligation Bonds, Series 2025” (the “2025 General Obligation Bonds”), for the purpose of procuring funds to pay for all or a portion of the costs of the 2025-2026 District Wide Facility Improvement and Equipping Project and to pay for all or a portion of the costs associated therewith, including, but not limited to, the expenses in connection with or on account of the issuance of the 2025 General Obligation Bonds therefor. The 2025 General Obligation Bonds shall be issued in an original aggregate principal amount not to exceed $3,000,000, have a final maturity date of no later than January 15, 2034, and bear interest at an estimated maximum rate or rates not to exceed five percent (5.00%).
Notice is hereby given by the undersigned that the Board will, on February 13, 2025, at 6:45 p.m. (local time), in the Central Administration Office, located at 1013 S. Forest Avenue, Brazil, Indiana, conduct a public hearing (1) to explain the potential value of the 2025-2026 District Wide Facility Improvement and Equipping Project to the School Corporation and the community, and (2) regarding the matter of appropriating the proceeds of the 2025 General Obligation Bonds and investment earnings thereon. All interested parties are entitled and encouraged to attend to present their testimony and ask any questions relative to the 2025-2026 District Wide Facility Improvement and Equipping Project or the 2025 General Obligation Bonds.
Subsequent to the public hearing, the Board expects to consider adoption of a resolution regarding the nature of the 2025-2026 District Wide Facility Improvement and Equipping Project and to consider adoption of a resolution regarding the appropriating of the proceeds of the 2025 General Obligation Bonds and the investment earnings thereon for the purposes described herein.
