Mission Statement

Clay Community Schools exists to meet the individual educational needs of the children of the community by providing a program to develop the skills necessary to pursue post-secondary ambitions including expanded college education, technical training or successful job placement. Graduates of Clay Community Schools will have the capacity to succeed in a global society and to be contributing members of their communities. Clay Community Schools shall develop and maintain a standard of excellence in its educational program by developing highly effective educators who will encourage and have a high level of expectation for each student's performance.

Kindergarten Round-Up

For all children age 5 on or before August 1, 2026

 

The dates and times for Clay Community Schools Kindergarten Round-Ups have been set as listed below.  It is important that parents or guardians enroll all students eligible to attend this fall.

 

            Clay City Elementary                          April 9                         5:30 p.m.

            East Side Elementary                          April 10                       9:30 a.m.

            Forest Park Elementary                      April 10                       9:00 a.m.

            Jackson Township Elementary           April 2                         9:00 a.m.

            Meridian Elementary                         April 10                       9:00 a.m.

            Staunton Elementary                         April 2                         6:00 p.m.

            Van Buren Elementary                       April 2                         9:00 a.m.

 

A child must be five years of age on or before August 1, 2026, to be eligible to attend kindergarten.  Students must register for kindergarten at their home school. Parents or guardians should bring proof of address, their child’s birth certificate, and immunization records with them.

Principals encourage parents or guardians to bring their child with them to register.  The kindergarten teacher, school nurse, speech therapist, and principal will be present to assist parents or guardians and students.

Phishing Email

On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of last week, six of our email accounts were compromised. This allowed the perpetrator to access the address books of those accounts and send a phishing email. The message contained a link that, when clicked, allowed the perpetrator to capture login credentials and gain access to the recipient’s email account.

Lunch with John Adams The signer that I would choose would be John Adams, who is also called the Atlas of independence. As we sat down, I asked him what it was like to be a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He responded and said that it was a long process; in fact, it was as long as 6 months for all the delegates to sign the Declaration of Independence.

Clay Community Schools Families, I would like to provide an update regarding the instructional days missed last week due to winter weather. The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) has granted Clay Community Schools flexibility waivers for all days school was closed during that time.
